What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Basecamp Fitness has no duty or obligation to operate a franchisee's studio. The franchisee is responsible for the day-to-day operations of their Basecamp Studio. Basecamp Fitness will not direct the franchisee's employees, schedule their employees, or oversee their employment policies or practices.
This means that as a Basecamp Fitness franchisee, you have full control over the operational aspects of your studio, including staffing and scheduling. However, you must comply with all applicable employment laws. You are also required to designate an individual to serve as the Principal Operator of your Basecamp Studio, who will devote their best efforts to the supervision and conduct of the studio's development and operation. The Principal Operator must also complete any additional training that Basecamp Fitness may reasonably designate.
Franchisees and their Principal Operators must attend and participate in any on-site visits by Basecamp Fitness representatives at the studio and participate in any business review calls that are scheduled. Franchisees are solely responsible for all wages, travel, living expenses, and other costs incurred by them and their employees in connection with any training or instruction provided by Basecamp Fitness. This arrangement is typical in franchising, where the franchisee assumes responsibility for managing their own location while adhering to the franchisor's system and standards.
