What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for determining the terms of employment and working conditions for their employees, provided they comply with all applicable employment laws. Basecamp Fitness has no duty or obligation to direct the franchisee's employees, schedule them, or oversee employment policies. The franchisee is responsible for all wages, travel, living expenses, and other costs incurred by them and their employees in connection with any training or instruction provided by Basecamp Fitness.

The franchisee must designate a Principal Operator who will supervise the Basecamp Fitness studio and complete additional training as designated by Basecamp Fitness. The franchisee must also ensure that the Principal Operator and studio/fitness manager sign a Confidentiality Agreement enforceable by Basecamp Fitness.

This arrangement is typical in franchising, where franchisees operate as independent business owners. It gives the franchisee flexibility in managing their staff but also places the responsibility for compliance with labor laws and related costs on them. A prospective Basecamp Fitness franchisee should carefully consider these responsibilities and costs when evaluating the franchise opportunity.
