Answer from 2025 FDD Document

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a 'Compliance Drawing' is a specific studio layout/design that Basecamp Fitness will create for the franchisee's studio before construction begins. Basecamp Fitness will provide one Compliance Drawing. However, if the franchisee wants additional drawings, they must pay Basecamp Fitness's then-current fee for each additional drawing.

Before construction can begin, the franchisee must supply Basecamp Fitness with accurate site information for the proposed location. This information includes as-built drawings, surveys, technical data, construction documents, and site plans. The franchisee's Basecamp Studio must be developed according to all applicable laws, regulations, codes, and other governing requirements, as well as Basecamp Fitness's mandatory specifications and any Compliance Drawing.

The franchisee may not begin construction until they have received written consent from Basecamp Fitness for the actual design of the studio. The franchisee is also required to retain a licensed and qualified architect and/or design professional to create Construction Documents and complete the construction of the Basecamp Studio in accordance with these documents. If the franchisee does not use Basecamp Fitness's designated architectural vendor, they must pay a fee for Basecamp Fitness to review and approve the Construction Documents. However, for the first Basecamp Studio, the franchisor may require the franchisee to obtain Construction Documents from their designated architectural vendor.

Overall, the Compliance Drawing is a key step in ensuring that the Basecamp Fitness studio is built according to the franchisor's standards and local regulations. Franchisees need to budget for potential additional Compliance Drawings and be prepared to provide detailed site information to Basecamp Fitness. They should also be aware of the requirements for Construction Documents and the potential need to use Basecamp Fitness's designated architectural vendor, especially for their first studio.
