What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bananas Smoothies Frozen Yogurt's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, an Area Developer must own and operate a minimum of two franchised locations. This requirement is part of the Area Development Program. The initial franchise fee for each of these two locations is $25,000 USD if located inside the Continental U.S., totaling $50,000 for both locations. Outside the Continental U.S. (Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories) the initial franchise fee is $35,000 USD for each location.
This means that if you are considering becoming an Area Developer for Bananas Smoothies Frozen Yogurt, you must be prepared to open at least two locations. This impacts the initial investment required, as you will need to secure locations, equipment, and meet other obligations for both locations simultaneously. The Area Development Fee covers these two locations, and the maximum number of locations that can be contracted under the Area Development Agreement is subject to negotiation and depends on the territory requested.
The FDD specifies that one half of the total initial franchise fee is due upon signing the Deposit Agreement ($25,000 USD), with the balance of the initial franchise fee for the second location (another $25,000 USD) paid upon signing the Franchise Agreement. This payment schedule should be factored into the franchisee's financial planning. Note that these fees are fully earned when paid and are non-refundable.
