What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee is required to translate any advertising or other materials related to their Bambu shop for use in their protected territory, they must do so according to the terms of Bambu's translation agreement. Bambu retains the right to copyright these translated or adapted materials in any country or territory.
Bambu will own the United States and all foreign copyrights for all translations, adaptations, and derivative versions of the materials. This means that even though the franchisee may be the one arranging and paying for the translation, Bambu maintains full ownership of the translated content.
Furthermore, Bambu has the right to market these translated or adapted versions in any manner they choose, in all countries worldwide. This clause ensures that Bambu can leverage the translated materials beyond the franchisee's specific territory, potentially using them for global marketing initiatives without further input or compensation to the franchisee. This is a significant consideration for prospective franchisees, as it clarifies that any translated materials they produce become the exclusive property of Bambu, which Bambu can then use at its discretion.
