What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the transfer fee covers the training of up to three representatives of the transferee. If the transferee wishes to have additional representatives trained, Bambu reserves the right to charge its then-current rate for training those additional representatives. The transfer fee is payable when the franchisee presents the written offer from the proposed transferee to Bambu.
This means that if a franchisee decides to sell their Bambu franchise to a new owner, the transfer fee includes the cost for training up to three people from the new owner's team. This training ensures that the new management is properly equipped to run the franchise according to Bambu's standards. This is a pretty standard practice in franchising, as it helps maintain consistency across all franchise locations when ownership changes.
However, it's important to note that if the new owner wants more than three people trained, they will have to pay an additional fee per person. The FDD does not specify the amount of this additional training fee, so a prospective franchisee should confirm the current rate with Bambu. This additional cost should be factored into the financial planning of the transfer to avoid unexpected expenses.
