What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee needs to translate advertising or other materials for their Bambu shop in their protected territory, they must follow the terms outlined in Bambu's current translation agreement. This agreement ensures that all translated materials adhere to Bambu's standards and brand consistency.
Bambu retains the right to copyright these translated or adapted materials in any country or territory. Furthermore, Bambu owns the United States and all foreign copyrights for all translations, adaptations, and derivative versions of the materials. This means that while a franchisee may initiate the translation process, Bambu maintains full ownership and control over the translated content.
This provision allows Bambu to market the translated materials in any manner they choose across all countries. For a prospective franchisee, this means that while they may need to translate materials for their local market, Bambu has the final say and can use those translations for broader marketing purposes, potentially benefiting the entire franchise system. Franchisees should request a copy of the current form of translation agreement to fully understand their obligations and Bambu's rights regarding translated materials.
