What happens if changes to the construction plans deviate materially from the initial kitchen workflow design and equipment specifications provided by Bambu?
Bambu Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
We will consult with you regarding your construction documents, which must be prepared by our designated architectural firm or another architect you select, and we approve.
We must approve those documents before you submit them for permitting and construction begins, and if any suggested changes to the plans deviate materially from the initial kitchen workflow design and equipment specifications we provide to you.
You are responsible for the cost of any architectural designs and mechanical drawings that you obtain, and for modifying any plans that we may provide to you, and for the cost of construction. (Sections 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6 and 7.1.c of the Franchise Agreement.) See also "Site Selection Assistance," described below in this Item.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Bambu must approve the franchisee's construction documents before they are submitted for permitting and before construction begins. These documents can be prepared by Bambu's designated architectural firm or another architect selected and approved by Bambu. If any suggested changes to the construction plans deviate materially from the initial kitchen workflow design and equipment specifications that Bambu provides, it implies that the franchisor would need to re-approve the documents.
This process ensures that the Bambu shoppe maintains a consistent brand standard and operational efficiency. It also means that franchisees need to factor in time for Bambu's review and approval when planning their construction timeline. Any delays in obtaining approval could potentially push back the opening date of the franchise.
The franchisee is responsible for the costs associated with architectural designs, mechanical drawings, and any modifications to the plans provided by Bambu, as well as the cost of construction. This highlights the importance of adhering to Bambu's initial specifications to avoid additional expenses from revisions and re-approvals. Franchisees should communicate closely with Bambu and their chosen architect to ensure alignment and minimize potential deviations from the approved design.
