What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is required to retain an architect and general contractor at or before the time they sign the lease for their franchised location. The franchisee must also obtain Bambu's prior written consent for both the architect and the general contractor they choose to hire.

Bambu states that it will not unreasonably withhold approval of the architectural firm or general contractor, provided they can demonstrate sufficient expertise in commercial retail design work. This expertise is needed to ensure that the necessary plans, approvals, and permits are obtained, and that the project is properly overseen. If Bambu does not approve the franchisee's choices, Bambu may require the franchisee to engage an architectural firm or general contractor that Bambu designates.

Bambu also assists the franchisee in developing a required kitchen workflow design and layout, including specific equipment specifications. Additionally, Bambu provides a style guide with recommended finishes, colors, materials, furniture, fixtures, counters, and décor for the franchisee to use in designing the layout. The franchisee is responsible for engaging the approved local architect to prepare final permit drawings, including the shoppe floor plan, equipment layout, and mechanical drawings or other construction documents necessary for construction of the Bambū shoppe. Franchisees must get written consent from Bambu for any design, improvements or conversion to the premises before starting any construction, remodeling, or decorating, with the franchisee bearing sole responsibility for these costs.
