When must a Bambu franchisee provide materials for permitting to Bambu for approval?

Bambu Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Such materials must be provided to and approved by Bambu before Franchisee submits such materials for permitting if they deviate materially from the initial workflow design and equipment specifications that Bambu provides to Franchisee.

However, it shall be Franchisee's sole responsibility to have prepared all required architectural designs, mechanical drawings, site plans, blueprints and construction plans to suit the dimensions of the Franchised Location and to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes including the Americans with Disabilities Act, and any lease or purchase agreement.

Franchisee acknowledges that the assistance related to the design and layout of the Franchised Location provided by Bambu, and Bambu's approval of any drawing, layout, or other construction document related to the Franchised Location, do not constitute a recommendation, endorsement or guarantee by Bambu of the suitability or profitability of the location, layout or design of the Bambū shoppe.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must provide construction and permitting materials to Bambu for approval before submitting them to the relevant governmental authorities if the materials deviate materially from the initial workflow design and equipment specifications that Bambu provides. This ensures that any significant changes to the standard Bambu design are reviewed and approved by the franchisor before being implemented.

This requirement is in place to maintain brand consistency and ensure that all Bambu locations meet the franchisor's standards. By reviewing the plans, Bambu can ensure that the franchisee's location will function efficiently and effectively, and that it will be consistent with the brand's image. This process helps to protect the Bambu brand and ensures that customers have a consistent experience at all locations.

It is important to note that the franchisee is ultimately responsible for ensuring that all architectural designs, mechanical drawings, site plans, blueprints, and construction plans comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, and any lease or purchase agreement. While Bambu provides assistance with the design and layout of the franchised location and approves construction documents, this does not constitute a recommendation, endorsement, or guarantee of the suitability or profitability of the location, layout, or design.
