Must construction documents for a Bambu franchise be prepared by Bambu's designated architectural firm?
Bambu Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
We will consult with you regarding your construction documents, which must be prepared by our designated architectural firm or another architect you select, and we approve.
We must approve those documents before you submit them for permitting and construction begins, and if any suggested changes to the plans deviate materially from the initial kitchen workflow design and equipment specifications we provide to you.
You are responsible for the cost of any architectural designs and mechanical drawings that you obtain, and for modifying any plans that we may provide to you, and for the cost of construction. (Sections 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6 and 7.1.c of the Franchise Agreement.) See also "Site Selection Assistance," described below in this Item.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees have a choice regarding who prepares their construction documents. While Bambu can designate an architectural firm, franchisees are not obligated to use them. They can select another architect, subject to Bambu's approval.
Bambu will consult with franchisees regarding their construction documents. However, regardless of who prepares the documents, Bambu must approve them before they are submitted for permitting and construction can begin. This approval process ensures that the design aligns with Bambu's standards and specifications.
The franchisee is responsible for covering the costs of architectural designs and any necessary modifications to plans, even those provided by Bambu. They are also responsible for the cost of construction. This means franchisees need to budget for these expenses when setting up their Bambu location.
