Besides the opening training, when else must a Bambu franchisee and a designated Bambu Certified Team Leader attend training?

Bambu Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

In addition to the opening training, and approximately two months prior to the estimated date of the opening training, Franchisee, if an individual, and one other designated Bambū Certified Team Leader shall attend a two day pre-opening owner operations orientation and training program conducted at a Bambū shoppe designated by us.

  • a. Franchisee or the Bambū Certified Team Leaders must obtain food safety manager certification from the ServSafe National Restaurant Association or another food safety certification program approved by the state and local environmental and health requirements that covers the Franchised Location, at Franchisee's cost, including attending and successfully completing any training required for that certification.
  • b. Bambu also has the right to require Franchisee, the Bambū Certified Team Leaders and other designated employees to attend and satisfactorily complete training and certification courses from time to time, including online training, and other continuing development programs and meetings that Bambu may periodically choose to provide at times and locations Bambu shall designate. Bambu shall give Franchisee at least 30 days prior written notice of any training courses or programs which are deemed mandatory. Bambu shall not require in-person attendance at additional training courses or programs more than two times, totaling five days, in any calendar year; provided that additional training shall be mandatory for all new Bambū Certified Team Leaders, regardless of the number of prior additional training sessions conducted for Franchisee. Franchisee (or, if Franchisee is not an individual, an owner designated by Bambu) shall attend an annual convention of franchise owners. Bambu may also require Franchisee to attend additional training specifically for Franchisee if Bambu deems it necessary or appropriate in its discretion. Franchisee will be responsible for all traveling, lodging, and meal expenses which are associated with attendance at any mandatory training program and the annual convention. Bambu reserves the right to charge a fee or tuition based on its then-current published rate for any training that Franchisee requests or that Bambu requires specific to Franchisee.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees and their Bambu Certified Team Leaders are required to attend additional training programs beyond the initial opening training. Approximately two months before the estimated opening date, the franchisee (if an individual) and one designated Bambu Certified Team Leader must attend a two-day pre-opening owner operations orientation and training program at a Bambu-designated location.

Furthermore, franchisees and Bambu Certified Team Leaders must obtain food safety manager certification from the ServSafe National Restaurant Association or another approved program, which includes attending and successfully completing any required training. Bambu also reserves the right to mandate attendance at other training and certification courses, including online training and continuing development programs, with at least 30 days' prior written notice. Bambu limits in-person mandatory additional training to no more than two times, totaling five days, in any calendar year. However, additional training is mandatory for all new Bambu Certified Team Leaders, regardless of prior training sessions.

Additionally, the franchisee (or a designated owner if the franchisee is not an individual) is required to attend an annual convention of franchise owners. Bambu may also require the franchisee to attend additional training specifically for the franchisee if deemed necessary. The franchisee is responsible for all travel, lodging, and meal expenses associated with any mandatory training program and the annual convention. Bambu reserves the right to charge a fee for any training requested by or required specifically for the franchisee.
