Bambu Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

  • b.

Bambu will assist Franchisee in the development of a required kitchen workflow design and layout, including the specific equipment specifications required for use in Franchisee's shoppe.

Bambu will also provide a style guide of recommended finishes and colors, materials, furniture, fixtures, counter and décor for Franchisee to use in designing the layout for the Franchised Location.

Franchisee shall obtain Bambu's prior written approval of choice of colors and furniture.

Franchisee shall then be responsible for engaging the approved local architect to prepare final permit drawings, including the shoppe floor plan, equipment layout and mechanical drawings or other construction documents necessary for construction of the Bambū shoppe.

Franchise shall consult with Bambu regarding the construction documents as it deems appropriate in its discretion, and shall obtain Bambu's written consent to any conversion, improvements, design, or decoration of the premises before construction, remodeling or decorating begins, recognizing that any related costs are Franchisee's sole responsibility.

Once Bambu approves the final plans, they cannot be changed without its prior written approval.

Bambu may require Franchisee to use the services of a company that will supervise the buildout of its Bambū shoppe if, in Bambu's sole discretion, Bambu determine that the architect or contractor that Franchisee intends to use has insufficient knowledge and experience to build a Bambū shoppe.

If Franchisee changes the plans or the construction of its Bambū shoppe without Bambu's knowledge or without prior written approval, Bambu may require Franchisee to conform its Bambū shoppe to the approved plans before Franchisee can open its Bambū shoppe to the public.

Franchisee must also submit those materials to the governmental authority that issues the required permits and approvals for the construction, and Franchisee's landlord, if applicable.

Such materials must be provided to and approved by Bambu before Franchisee submits such materials for permitting if they deviate materially from the initial workflow design and equipment specifications that Bambu provides to Franchisee.

However, it shall be Franchisee's sole responsibility to have prepared all required architectural designs, mechanical drawings, site plans, blueprints and construction plans to suit the dimensions of the Franchised Location and to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes including the Americans with Disabilities Act, and any lease or purchase agreement.

Franchisee acknowledges that the assistance related to the design and layout of the Franchised Location provided by Bambu, and Bambu's approval of any drawing, layout, or other construction document related to the Franchised Location, do not constitute a recommendation, endorsement or guarantee by Bambu of the suitability or profitability of the location, layout or design of the Bambū shoppe.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Bambu provides assistance with the development of a required kitchen workflow design and layout for the franchised location. This includes providing specific equipment specifications for the franchisee's shoppe. Bambu also offers a style guide with recommended finishes, colors, materials, furniture, fixtures, counter, and décor to aid in designing the layout.

However, the franchisee is responsible for engaging an approved local architect to prepare the final permit drawings, including the shoppe floor plan, equipment layout, and mechanical drawings necessary for construction. The franchisee must consult with Bambu regarding the construction documents and obtain written consent for any conversion, improvements, design, or decoration before starting construction, with all related costs being the franchisee's responsibility. Once Bambu approves the final plans, they cannot be changed without prior written approval.

Bambu may also require the franchisee to use a company to supervise the buildout if they determine that the franchisee's chosen architect or contractor lacks sufficient knowledge and experience. If the franchisee alters the plans or construction without Bambu's approval, Bambu can require the franchisee to conform the shoppe to the approved plans before opening to the public. The franchisee is solely responsible for preparing all required architectural designs, mechanical drawings, site plans, blueprints, and construction plans to suit the dimensions of the franchised location and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

It is important to note that Bambu's assistance and approval of any drawing or construction document do not constitute a recommendation, endorsement, or guarantee of the suitability or profitability of the location, layout, or design of the Bambu shoppe. This is a fairly typical arrangement in franchising, where the franchisor provides guidance but the franchisee ultimately bears responsibility for execution and compliance.
