Must Bambu approve construction documents before they are submitted for permitting?

Bambu Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

We will consult with you regarding your construction documents, which must be prepared by our designated architectural firm or another architect you select, and we approve.

We must approve those documents before you submit them for permitting and construction begins, and if any suggested changes to the plans deviate materially from the initial kitchen workflow design and equipment specifications we provide to you.

You are responsible for the cost of any architectural designs and mechanical drawings that you obtain, and for modifying any plans that we may provide to you, and for the cost of construction. (Sections 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6 and 7.1.c of the Franchise Agreement.) See also "Site Selection Assistance," described below in this Item.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bambu's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Bambu requires approval of construction documents before they are submitted for permitting. Bambu will provide consultation regarding construction documents, which must be prepared by Bambu's designated architectural firm or another architect selected by the franchisee and approved by Bambu. These documents must be approved before submission for permitting and construction.

This requirement ensures that the franchisee's location adheres to Bambu's standards for design and functionality. This process helps maintain brand consistency across all franchise locations and ensures that the design supports efficient operations.

The franchisee is responsible for covering the costs of architectural designs and mechanical drawings, including any modifications to plans provided by Bambu, as well as the costs of construction. This financial responsibility means franchisees need to budget appropriately for these expenses during the build-out phase.

If any suggested changes to the plans deviate materially from the initial kitchen workflow design and equipment specifications provided by Bambu, further approvals may be necessary. This stipulation highlights the importance of adhering to Bambu's initial design and equipment specifications to avoid potential delays and additional costs.
