What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to B Bops's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for the expense of transforming the franchisor's plans and specifications into site-specific plans. B Bops provides the initial plans and specifications for the restaurant's construction. However, the franchisee must then take these general plans and adapt them to the specific location they have chosen.
This adaptation involves hiring an architect to create site-specific plans that comply with all local codes, regulations, and ordinances. The franchisee bears the full cost of this architectural work. Furthermore, before starting any construction, the franchisee must obtain B Bops's written approval of these site-specific plans.
After approval, the franchisee must contract with a responsible contractor to build the improvements according to the approved plans, again at the franchisee's expense. The franchisee is also responsible for securing all necessary building, zoning, and utility permits, as well as any required landlord consents, all at their own cost. This means the franchisee needs to budget not only for the construction itself but also for the professional fees and permits required to prepare the site for building.
