Is the B Bops franchisee required to reimburse the Company for travel and lodging expenses?

- The Company will, for a period of between three and five days prior to the opening of the Franchise, with the exact number of days determined by the Company, provide, at the Franchise premises, between one and four persons to assist the Franchisee in the preparation for the opening of the Franchise. You or your manager will be required to be present at the Franchise premises during the time the Company's people are at the Franchise premises providing the assistance. You will be required to reimburse the Company for the cost of round-trip airline tickets, if applicable, and for the hotel expenses for the Company's people providing the assistance. Company Obligations During Operations. During operation of the Franchise, the Company is required to provide you with the following supervision, assistance or services:

- The Company will, during any period when it requires you and the other franchisees to pay all or part of the advertising fee, develop advertising, promotional and public relations campaigns to promote the B-Bop's Restaurant system. You are, however, responsible for paying the cost of implementing such advertising as part of the independent advertising expenditure requirement. The Company will not, however, be required to develop and provide advertising and promotional materials to you during any period in which the Company has elected to waive payment of the advertising fee in whole by you and the other franchisees. - The Company will make a minimum of two (2) trips per year to the Franchise for purposes of providing on-site support and advisory services to you for the proper operation of the Franchise. (Section 11(B) of the Franchise Agreement)

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to B Bops's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to reimburse the company for certain travel and lodging expenses. Specifically, during the pre-opening phase, B Bops will provide between one and four people to assist the franchisee in preparing for the opening of the franchise for a period of three to five days. Similarly, after the franchise opens, B Bops will provide assistance for four to six days.
In both the pre-opening and post-opening phases, the franchisee is responsible for reimbursing B Bops for the cost of round-trip airline tickets, if applicable, and hotel expenses incurred by the B Bops personnel providing assistance. This reimbursement requirement is outlined in Section 7 of the Franchise Agreement.
Additionally, if a franchisee or their new manager attends a refresher or initial training course, the franchisee is responsible for covering all compensation, travel, lodging, and other expenses incurred during the training. These expenses are separate from any fees charged by B Bops for the training itself, which can be up to $2,000 for refresher or additional training.
