What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Azal Coffee's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you lease the location for your Azal Coffee franchise, both you (the franchisee) and the landlord are required to sign Azal Coffee's standard Lease Addendum. Additionally, you must sign a Collateral Assignment of Lease before opening your franchise.
This requirement ensures that Azal Coffee has a standardized agreement in place with the landlord, protecting their interests and ensuring compliance with franchise standards. The Lease Addendum likely outlines specific terms and conditions related to the operation of an Azal Coffee franchise at that location.
The Collateral Assignment of Lease further protects Azal Coffee by giving them rights to your lease in certain situations, such as if you default on your franchise agreement. This is a common practice in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to maintain control over the location and potentially transfer it to another franchisee if necessary. Prospective franchisees should carefully review the Lease Addendum and Collateral Assignment of Lease with legal counsel to understand their obligations and the implications for their business.
