What is the purpose of the 'ready to open' checklist used by Azal Coffee?
Azal_Coffee Franchise · 2024 FDDAnswer from 2024 FDD Document
At least 30 days in advance of the projected opening date for your Franchise Business, you must request that we perform our final inspection. Your Franchise Business must be ready to open prior to the commencement of any on-site training and the final inspection. "Ready to open" means that you have obtained all necessary permits, licenses and inspections, all equipment necessary to operate the Franchise Business must be operational, product is available for sale, adequate staff has been employed, and you or a trained manager is present at the Franchise Location. Our representative will not provide training or remain on-site if you or a trained manager is not present at the Franchise Location. We will not book travel for the on-site training and final inspection until you notify us that you are ready to open. We will go through a ready to open checklist a day or two before the representative is scheduled to travel. If you are not ready to open, we will have to reschedule the representative's travel and you will have to pay the expense of rescheduling, which may include cancellation fees. If it appears you are ready to open, but the Franchise Business is not ready to open when the representative arrives for training and/or final inspection, you must pay all travel and living expenses incurred by us or our agents and the wages of our employees or independent contractors or agents in connection with provision of the on-site training and inspection. If we interrupt on-site training and inspection because your Franchise Business is not ready to open, we will provide on-site training and a final inspection only after payment of the above listed expenses and certification by you that your Franchise Business is ready to open.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Azal Coffee's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the 'ready to open' checklist is used to ensure a franchisee's business is fully prepared before the franchisor sends a representative for on-site training and final inspection. At least 30 days before the projected opening date, the franchisee must request a final inspection, confirming that the location is 'ready to open'.
For Azal Coffee, 'ready to open' specifically means that the franchisee has secured all necessary permits, licenses, and inspections. Additionally, all equipment required to operate the franchise must be fully functional, and there must be sufficient product inventory available for sale. Adequate staffing must be in place, and either the franchisee or a trained manager must be present at the franchise location.
Azal Coffee uses the 'ready to open' checklist a day or two before the representative is scheduled to travel to the franchisee's location. If the franchisee is not ready, the representative's travel will be rescheduled, and the franchisee will bear the expense of rescheduling, including any cancellation fees. If the representative arrives and the business is not ready, the franchisee must cover all travel, living expenses, and wages incurred by Azal Coffee's representatives. On-site training and final inspection will only resume after these expenses are paid and the franchisee certifies that the business is ready.
