You must comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to your Franchise Business and businesses in general. Building codes and requirements vary in different jurisdictions and it is important for you and your architect to be aware of and comply with all local laws as well as the federal laws including without limitation the Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Affordable Care Act, Federal Wage and Hour Laws, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. You must become familiar with federal, state and local laws and health regulations regulating restaurants and food handling and labeling generally, including any requirements related to nutritional representations and menu labeling, such as United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards; truth in menu and labeling laws; storage, preparation, and sale of food and beverage products; and health, sanitation, and safety regulations relating to food service. These laws and regulations may vary significantly from state to state and even from locality to locality. Some local agencies may require that employees who prepare your food products become certified food handlers. In order to obtain certification, your employees may be required to attend instructional courses, pass required tests and pay a fee. You should check with city, township and county regulatory agencies to determine if certification will be required of your employees. Laws exist in every state and most local units of government (cities, townships, villages, counties, etc.) that govern the food service industry including, without limitation, health, sanitation, and safety regulations regarding food storage, preparation, and safety.
