What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Azal Coffee's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchise location must adhere to specific construction and improvement standards. Azal Coffee issues specifications for various aspects of the location, including build-out, décor, signage, equipment layout, and the space layout for both the front and back of the house. Franchisees must get approval from Azal Coffee for all drawings, plans, and specifications related to the design, construction, or improvement of the franchise location.
Azal Coffee retains the right to inspect and approve the construction before the store opens to ensure compliance with the approved plans and specifications. If the plans and specifications have not been followed to Azal Coffee's satisfaction, the franchisee is responsible for resolving any issues before opening the store.
While Azal Coffee reviews and approves the drawings, plans, and specifications, the document clarifies that Azal Coffee is only ensuring compliance with their standards. Franchisees are solely responsible for meeting all governmental and legal requirements, as well as ensuring the adequacy of the design and engineering related to the construction or improvement of their franchise location. This means franchisees need to ensure they are independently verifying compliance with local regulations and codes.
