What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Aw's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, as a condition of renewal, franchisees must make reasonable capital expenditures to remodel, upgrade, and redecorate their Papa Ray's Pizza Restaurant premises. The remodeled restaurant must reflect the then-current image that Aw intends to portray. This includes trade dress, color schemes, layout, fixtures, furniture, equipment, and the presentation of Aw's marks.

The remodeling and any replacements, upgrades, or redecoration must adhere to the standards and specifications prescribed by Aw, with their prior written approval. This obligation is in addition to the franchisee's ongoing duty to maintain the condition and appearance of the premises during the term of the franchise agreement.

This requirement ensures that all Aw locations maintain a consistent and up-to-date brand image. For a prospective franchisee, this means being prepared to invest in remodeling and upgrades at the time of renewal to meet Aw's current standards. It is important to understand what these standards entail and the potential costs associated with them to accurately assess the financial implications of renewing the franchise agreement.
