What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Aw's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Papa Ray's Pizza does have standards for its suppliers, including those relating to financial capability. Specifically, Aw has developed standards and specifications for suppliers of products, furniture, fixtures, signs, equipment, materials, and supplies used in connection with the products and services authorized for sale at Papa Ray's Pizza Restaurants.
These standards extend beyond just product quality and also include requirements relating to prices, consistency, reliability, labor relations, and customer relations. The FDD states that Aw will provide franchisees with a list of approved suppliers. Franchisees are obligated to purchase all fixtures, furniture, signs, materials, products, and supplies from these approved distributors and suppliers, which may include Aw or its affiliates, or ensure that the items conform to Aw's specifications and standards.
This requirement ensures that all Papa Ray's Pizza Restaurants maintain a consistent level of quality and service, protecting the brand's reputation. For a prospective franchisee, this means they will have limited flexibility in choosing suppliers and must adhere to Aw's approved list to maintain compliance with the franchise agreement. This also implies that Aw has vetted these suppliers to meet certain operational and financial criteria, which can provide some assurance of reliability and quality.
