What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Aw's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchise agreement addresses employee-related responsibilities for Papa Ray's Pizza Restaurants. Specifically, the franchisee is responsible for staffing the restaurant with an adequate number of managers, assistant managers, and employees to meet operational standards and customer service expectations.

The franchisee has the exclusive responsibility for all employment-related decisions, including hiring, firing, compensation, benefits, work hours, recordkeeping, and supervision, ensuring compliance with employment laws. Aw requires the franchisee to implement a training program for employees that meets Aw's standards. Additionally, employees must maintain a neat and clean appearance and wear uniforms that adhere to Aw's standards to protect the brand's image.

The franchise agreement also restricts franchisees from recruiting or hiring employees (or former employees within six months of their departure) from other Papa Ray's Pizza Restaurants operated by Aw, its affiliates, or other franchisees without prior written consent. This clause aims to prevent the poaching of trained staff within the franchise system and maintain consistency across locations.

In summary, while the Aw franchise agreement does not explicitly detail specific qualifications for Papa Ray's Pizza Restaurant employees, it mandates that franchisees implement a training program that meets Aw's standards and ensures employees adhere to appearance and uniform guidelines. The franchisee is responsible for all employment decisions and must comply with all applicable employment laws.
