What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Aw's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must furnish evidence of compliance with certain obligations within 30 days after the termination or expiration date. This evidence must be satisfactory to Aw.
Specifically, the franchisee must demonstrate that they have notified the telephone company and listing agencies about the termination of their right to use any phone numbers and directory listings associated with Aw's marks, and that they have authorized the transfer of these to Aw. Additionally, the franchisee needs to show that they have assigned all rights to domain name registrations, websites, and social media presences using Aw's marks to Aw or its designee, and that they have notified the relevant parties about the termination of their license to use these marks.
This requirement ensures that upon termination or expiration of the franchise agreement, the franchisee takes the necessary steps to disassociate themselves from the Aw brand and transfer control of relevant assets back to Aw. This protects Aw's brand identity and ensures a clean break between the franchisee and the franchisor.
