What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Aw's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must submit their weekly gross sales report by Tuesday of each week. This report should cover sales from the preceding Monday through Sunday. The method and format for submitting this report will be specified by Aw.
In addition to the weekly gross sales report, Aw requires franchisees to submit other financial documents. These include monthly profit and loss statements within ten days of each month's end, year-end balance sheets and annual profit and loss statements within 75 days after the fiscal year's end, and copies of sales tax returns within ten days of each calendar quarter's end. Franchisees must also provide copies of relevant portions of their and their owners' state and federal income tax returns by April 25 each year.
Aw also has the right to inspect and audit a franchisee's business records at any time during business hours without prior notice. Franchisees are expected to maintain a bookkeeping, accounting, and recordkeeping system that adheres to generally accepted accounting principles and Aw's standards. These records, including sales tax returns and income tax return copies, must be kept at the premises for at least five years from the preparation date.
Failure to submit the weekly gross revenue report may result in Aw debiting the franchisee's account for 120% of the last transferred amount for royalty and marketing fund contributions. This highlights the importance of timely and accurate reporting to avoid potential financial penalties and maintain compliance with the franchise agreement.
