According to Auntie Anne's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisor reserves the right to reduce the initial franchise fee under specific circumstances. These circumstances include offering an economic incentive for opening a location, inducing existing operators to open additional shops, encouraging the reopening of a closed shop, incentivizing someone to take over an operating shop, attracting a professional multi-unit operator to open several shops, or providing the franchisee with additional funds for shop improvements and marketing during the first 12 months of operation.
The amount of any reduction to the initial franchise fee is determined on a case-by-case basis, considering factors such as the condition of the premises, the need for upgrades and remodeling, any special circumstances, and other relevant considerations. Auntie Anne's may also allow a new franchisee to apply part of their initial franchise fee to the cost of needed improvements or equipment.
It's important to note that Auntie Anne's has the right to modify or discontinue any discount or incentive programs at any time. In 2023, franchisees paid initial franchise fees ranging from $0 to $35,500, indicating that such reductions do occur. Prospective franchisees should inquire about the specific conditions and availability of these reductions during their discussions with the franchisor.
