If Auntie Annes modifies the menu, can franchisees be required to purchase additional equipment?

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

You must purchase and install, at your expense, all fixtures, furnishings, equipment (including a Computer System), décor and signs, as we direct. If we modify our menu, we may require you to purchase additional equipment to prepare and store new menu items. You may not install on or about your Shop any merchandise, furnishings, interior or exterior décor items, supplies, fixtures, equipment or utensils unless they have been approved by us in writing. You must purchase these items only from an Approved Supplier unless we specify otherwise.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Auntie Annes's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if Auntie Annes modifies its menu, franchisees may be required to purchase additional equipment to prepare and store the new menu items. This equipment must be purchased and installed at the franchisee's expense.

This requirement ensures that all Auntie Annes locations can offer the same menu items and maintain brand consistency. It also allows Auntie Annes to adapt to changing consumer preferences and market trends by introducing new products.

For a prospective franchisee, this means they should be prepared for potential additional costs associated with menu changes. It is important to factor in the cost of new equipment when evaluating the profitability of the franchise. Franchisees are restricted to purchasing these items only from approved suppliers, unless otherwise specified by Auntie Annes.
