What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Auntie Annes's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a Cinnabon Co-Branded Shop is a Full Shop where a franchisee sells Auntie Anne's products in conjunction with products authorized under the Cinnabon franchise system. This means the shop operates under both the Auntie Anne's and Cinnabon brands, offering products from both menus at the same location. To operate a Cinnabon Co-Branded Shop, a franchisee must purchase both an Auntie Anne's franchise and a Cinnabon franchise.
For a prospective franchisee, this co-branding opportunity presents the potential to attract a wider customer base by appealing to fans of both Auntie Anne's pretzels and Cinnabon's cinnamon rolls. However, it also means taking on the obligations and costs associated with two separate franchise agreements. The franchisee must sign a Franchise Agreement and a Co-Branded Shop Schedule with Auntie Anne's, as well as a franchise agreement and co-branded schedule with Cinnabon.
Auntie Anne's will not grant the right to operate a Cinnabon Co-Branded Shop unless Cinnabon agrees to offer a Cinnabon franchise and allow it to operate at a co-branded location. The terms of the Cinnabon franchise are disclosed in Cinnabon's separate disclosure document, which the prospective franchisee must obtain directly from Cinnabon. This highlights the importance of carefully reviewing both franchise agreements to understand the full scope of the investment, obligations, and potential returns.
This co-branding concept extends to Jamba as well, with Auntie Anne's offering Jamba Co-Branded Shops under similar conditions. Both Cinnabon Co-Branded Shops and Jamba Co-Branded Shops are collectively referred to as "Co-Branded Shops" in the FDD. This strategy allows Auntie Anne's to diversify its offerings and potentially increase revenue by partnering with established brands in complementary food categories.
