Who is responsible for the maintenance, repair, or updates to the computer system for an Augusta Lawn Care franchise?

Augusta_Lawn_Care Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Any maintenance, repair or updates due to the computer system are Your responsibility. (See Section 7.2.8 of the Franchise Agreement).

We may upgrade our minimum computer system requirements at any time in order to keep pace with technology. There are no contractual limitations on the frequency or cost of this obligation, but we expect you will need to upgrade at least every five (5) years. If we modify or impose a requirement, we will notify you in our manuals or other written communications, and will give you a reasonable time in which to comply at your expense. We estimate that the cost of upgrading and replacing a computer system could be from $500 to $1,000.

Neither we nor any affiliate is obligated to provide ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades or updates to any component of your computer system. You should determine for yourself whether or not any third-party supplier from whom you purchase any component of your computer system is obligated to provide ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades or updates to any component of your computer system, and determine the additional cost for the services.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Augusta Lawn Care Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for the maintenance, repair, or updates to the computer system. This includes the POS system, currently designated as Copilot, as well as other required computer equipment like iPads, laptops, or desktop computers. The annual cost for the POS system and other equipment is approximately $3,000, but this is subject to change by the vendors.

Augusta Lawn Care may upgrade the minimum computer system requirements to keep up with technology, with upgrades expected at least every five years. While there are no contractual limitations on the frequency or cost of these upgrades, the estimated cost for upgrading and replacing a computer system ranges from $500 to $1,000. Franchisees will be notified of any changes in the manuals or other written communications and will be given a reasonable time to comply at their own expense.

Although Augusta Lawn Care may assist in obtaining the computer system and related services, they are not obligated to do so. The franchisor disclaims all implied warranties and is not obligated to provide ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades, or updates to any component of the franchisee's computer system. It is the franchisee's responsibility to determine if any third-party supplier from whom they purchase computer components is obligated to provide these services and to determine the additional costs for such services. This means franchisees need to budget not only for the initial purchase and potential upgrades but also for ongoing support and maintenance of their computer systems.
