What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Aplus's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Aplus franchisees are required to participate in promotional offers, special pricing programs, and other programs that Aplus may designate.
The FDD specifies several required Aplus programs. These include the Hot Dispensed Beverages Program, Cold Dispensed Beverages Program, Food and Food Service Program, Prepaid Program (like prepaid phone cards), and the ATM Program (unless restricted). Franchisees must also participate in any other promotional offers, special pricing programs, or other programs that Aplus designates.
These mandatory programs ensure consistency across all Aplus locations and allow Aplus to maintain brand standards and customer experience. While participation is required, Aplus also states that they will work with franchisees to determine if Proprietary Programs are appropriate for their store. This suggests that while Aplus has the authority to implement these programs, they may consider the individual circumstances of each franchise location before mandating participation.
It is important for prospective franchisees to understand that Aplus retains the right to amend, supplement, or discontinue any program described in Item 8 of the FDD, in whole or in part, at any time during the franchise term, provided they give written notice. This gives Aplus considerable flexibility to adapt its programs and offerings, which could impact the franchisee's operations and profitability.
