What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Aplus's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, payment of the transfer fee is required for a transfer to be approved. Specifically, if a developer seeks to transfer any franchise agreement signed under the development agreement, they must obtain written consent from Aplus and simultaneously assign the development agreement and all associated franchise agreements to the same assignee.
Additionally, the developer is obligated to pay the applicable transfer fee and sign a general release. This indicates that the transfer will not be approved unless the transfer fee is paid.
For a transfer of an existing franchise, the franchisee must ensure that they or the transferee has paid Aplus the applicable Transfer Fee. The franchisor also requires a complete copy of all contracts, agreements, and related documents concerning the sale of the Aplus store from the franchisee to the transferee.
