What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Aplus's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to participate directly in the operation of the franchise. This includes supervising employees and directing or making sales of products and services to customers.

For franchisees who lease two or more Aplus stores, a specific requirement is to be present at each store from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for at least two weekdays. Additionally, each Aplus store must have at least one employee who has successfully completed the Aplus Training Program. Franchisees have four months to replace a trained manager who is no longer employed by them.

The FDD also states that franchisees must maintain an inventory of Sunoco Branded Motor Fuels sufficient to meet customer requirements at all times the premises are open. They must also arrange and display inventory, advertising, and sales promotion material in an orderly manner approved by Sunoco. Franchisees and their employees are required to wear neat, clean uniforms of a type and style approved by Sunoco.

These requirements ensure that Aplus franchisees are actively involved in managing their stores, maintaining brand standards, and providing adequate service to customers. The specific requirements for franchisees with multiple locations highlight the need for a more hands-on approach to overseeing operations and maintaining trained staff.
