Can an Aplus franchisee relocate their Aplus store without prior written approval?

You may not relocate the APLUS Store without our prior written consent. If we approve, you must relocate and commence operations within six months of our notice to you. You are responsible for all costs related to the relocation, including reimbursement of our cost, if any, in preparing standard engineering and architectural plans and site evaluations.

We or our affiliate may own and operate APLUS stores in an area in proximity to your APLUS Store. If you are a Leased APLUS Store franchisee we own the premises and lease it to you. You, or our designated consultants, are responsible for conforming the premises to local ordinances and building codes and obtaining any required permits. We are responsible for the construction and/or remodeling and interior and exterior designs, including equipment, signs, and fixtures.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Aplus's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not allowed to relocate their Aplus store without obtaining prior written consent from Aplus. If Aplus approves a relocation, the franchisee must complete the relocation and begin operations at the new site within six months of receiving notice from Aplus.

The franchisee is responsible for covering all expenses associated with the relocation. This includes reimbursing Aplus for any costs they incur in preparing standard engineering and architectural plans, as well as site evaluations.

If a franchisee wishes to relocate their Aplus store, but Aplus and the franchisee cannot agree on a substitute site within 90 days after Aplus receives the franchisee's relocation notice, the Franchise Agreement may be terminated. If a relocation is approved, the franchisee must enter into a new Aplus Franchise Agreement for the remainder of the original term, but will not be required to pay a new franchise fee.
