What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Aplus's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Area Representatives may receive compensation for their services through a percentage of the Initial Franchise Fee and/or a percentage of the monthly Royalty fees collected from Aplus stores within their defined territory. These Area Representatives are designated by Aplus to assist in offering franchises and servicing Aplus stores within a specific geographic area. It's important to note that Area Representatives do not collect these fees directly from franchisees, nor do they share in any Marketing Fees paid by the franchisee.

This arrangement means that the Area Representative's income is directly tied to the success of franchise sales and the ongoing performance of Aplus stores within their territory. The franchisor retains the right to compensate Area Representatives, and if such rights are assigned, the franchisee will remit payments directly to the Area Representative upon notice from Aplus.

For a prospective franchisee, this highlights the importance of understanding the role and responsibilities of the Area Representative in their region. Franchisees should be aware that a substantial amount of the services required to be provided by Aplus may be delegated to the Area Representative. Additionally, franchisees are expected to provide the Area Representative and their employees the same access to the Aplus store for inspections and visits as if they were employees of Aplus. This arrangement ensures that Area Representatives can effectively perform their duties in supporting and overseeing Aplus stores within their designated area.
