Who designates the approved suppliers for the Aplus Store Equipment?

According to Aplus's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Aplus (referred to as Sunoco in the document) designates the approved suppliers for Aplus Store equipment. Specifically, prior to the commencement date, the franchisee must obtain and install certain Aplus Store equipment designated by Aplus. This equipment must meet Aplus's specifications and requirements and must be purchased from suppliers approved or designated by Sunoco.

This means that franchisees do not have the autonomy to choose their own suppliers for essential store equipment. They are obligated to use suppliers that Aplus has pre-approved. This ensures uniformity and quality control across all Aplus franchise locations, maintaining brand consistency.

While this requirement limits the franchisee's flexibility, it also offers the benefit of Aplus having vetted the suppliers. However, Aplus makes no warranty regarding the approved items. Franchisees must adhere to all ongoing security, maintenance, and upgrade requirements for the Store Equipment as directed by Aplus during the term of the Franchise Agreement. Furthermore, franchisees cannot install or use any store equipment that is either owned by them or leased from a third party without prior written consent from Aplus.
