What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Aplus's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Sunoco may require franchisees to install certain communications equipment. Specifically, Sunoco may require an Aplus franchisee to install a fax machine and to have the capability to send and/or receive electronic mail through their computer.
In addition to specific equipment, Aplus requires a broadband connection (DSL, Cable, FIOS, or similar connection) at the APLUS Store to facilitate automated communications. This connection is used with Sunoco's network security firewall to obtain data needed to calculate certain fees and to provide additional support to the franchisee.
It is important for prospective franchisees to understand these technology requirements, as they will incur costs related to purchasing, installing, and maintaining the required systems. The franchisee may also have to enter into ongoing maintenance or support agreements for the computer or software programs. Furthermore, Aplus may periodically require updates or upgrades to computer hardware and software.
