What This Means (2025 FDD)

Based on the 2025 Angry Chickz FDD addendum for Maryland, Article 6 of the Area Development Agreement concerns acknowledgments related to the franchise relationship. Specifically, it states that no statement, questionnaire, or acknowledgment signed by a franchisee can waive claims under state franchise law, including claims of fraud, or disclaim reliance on statements made by Angry Chickz or its representatives. This provision takes precedence over any conflicting terms in other documents related to the franchise agreement.

This means that even if a franchisee signs a document that seems to waive their rights or acknowledges certain statements, those waivers or acknowledgments are not valid if they conflict with the franchisee's rights under Maryland franchise law. This protects franchisees from inadvertently giving up their legal rights during the initial stages of the franchise relationship.

For a prospective Angry Chickz franchisee in Maryland, this addendum offers a degree of protection. It ensures that they cannot unintentionally waive their rights under Maryland franchise law through standard documents signed at the beginning of the franchise relationship. This is particularly important in cases of potential misrepresentation or fraud, as it allows the franchisee to maintain their legal recourse despite any initial acknowledgments or waivers.
