What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, besides Maryland, there are addendums to the franchise agreement for Virginia, Illinois, Rhode Island, and Hawaii. These addendums include state-specific modifications and disclosures to ensure compliance with local franchise laws.

For franchisees in Virginia, the addendum addresses the Virginia Retail Franchising Act, particularly concerning the cancellation of a franchise and waiving claims under state law. It also defers initial fees until pre-opening obligations are met and the business is open.

In Illinois, the addendum defers initial fees due to Angry Chickz's financial condition, voids jurisdiction and venue clauses outside of Illinois (except for arbitration), and stipulates that Illinois law governs the agreements. It also highlights franchisee rights upon termination and non-renewal as per the Illinois Franchise Disclosure Act.

The addendum for Rhode Island states that any franchise agreement provision restricting jurisdiction or venue to a forum outside of Rhode Island or requiring the application of other states' laws is void under the Rhode Island Franchise Investment Act. The Hawaii addendum acknowledges the requirements of the Hawaii Franchise Investment Law, including mandatory disclosures and franchisee protections.
