What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, Section 5.5 of the franchise agreement details the franchisee's responsibilities for maintaining and remodeling the franchised business.

Specifically, Section 5.5.1 states that the franchisee must maintain the condition and appearance of the Angry Chickz restaurant to meet the company's standards, ensuring it is attractive, clean, and efficiently operated. This includes offering high-quality goods and services, courteous service, and a pleasant ambiance. If Angry Chickz determines that the restaurant's condition, appearance, cleanliness, or functionality does not meet these standards, they will provide written notice to the franchisee, who must then correct the deficiencies. This may involve replacing worn-out or obsolete fixtures, signage, décor, and trade dress, as well as repairing and repainting the interior and exterior of the premises and parking areas. Franchisees are also required to immediately remove any graffiti.

Section 5.5.2 outlines that Angry Chickz may require franchisees to refurbish, remodel, and improve the restaurant to conform to the then-current standards for new restaurants, but not more frequently than once every five years during the term. This is also a condition for exercising the Successor Agreement Right. Such remodeling may include structural changes, replacement or modification of fixtures, décor, and trade dress, and other changes as directed by Angry Chickz.

These requirements ensure that all Angry Chickz locations maintain a consistent brand image and quality, which is common in franchising. However, franchisees should be aware of the potential costs associated with these maintenance and remodeling obligations, as they are generally the franchisee's sole responsibility.
