What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, Angry Chickz retains the right to approve or disapprove any advertising, direct mail, identification, and promotional materials that a franchisee proposes to use for local advertising. This means that franchisees must submit their local advertising plans and materials to Angry Chickz for review and approval. If Angry Chickz does not approve the advertising materials within 10 days, the proposed advertising will be considered disapproved.
This approval process allows Angry Chickz to maintain brand consistency and ensure that all advertising aligns with their standards. While franchisees can develop their own advertising materials at their own cost, they cannot use them without prior approval from Angry Chickz. This requirement is detailed in the Franchise Agreement, specifically in Section 8.1.
In addition to individual local advertising efforts, franchisees may also be required to participate in regional advertising cooperatives, if established. These cooperatives may have their own governing documents and contribution requirements, but Angry Chickz retains significant control over advertising policies and the use of the Brand Fund, which is funded by a percentage of franchisees' gross sales. The Brand Fund is used for various advertising and promotional activities, and Angry Chickz directs all uses of the fund, including creative concepts, media placement, and allocation.
