Who owns the IS Data stored on the Angry Chickz franchisee's Information Systems?

At our direction, you must electronically link the Information Systems to us or our designee. You must allow us and/or our designee to access the Information Systems and stored files and data (the "IS Data"), and to add, remove, configure and modify the Information Systems via any means including electronic polling and uploads, with or without notice. We own the IS Data that is stored on your Information Systems and you will assign to us any and all rights you may have in the IS Data. We will have independent access to the information generated and stored in the Information Systems.
The Information Systems will store information concerning the customers, sales mix, sales information, purchasing and inventory, accounting and other operations. You must provide all assistance we require to bring the Information Systems on-line with our or our designee's computer at the earliest possible time and to maintain this connection as we require. We may retrieve from your Information Systems all information that we consider necessary, desirable or appropriate. There are no contractual limitations on our right to access information.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Angry Chickz's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Angry Chickz owns the IS Data stored on the franchisee's Information Systems. The IS Data encompasses all files and data stored within the franchisee's Information Systems. As a franchisee, you must assign any rights you may have in this IS Data to Angry Chickz. Angry Chickz retains independent access to all information generated and stored within these systems.
This means that Angry Chickz has the right to access, modify, and utilize all data generated by the franchisee's operations. This includes customer information, sales data, inventory details, and other operational information. The Information Systems will store information concerning the customers, sales mix, sales information, purchasing and inventory, accounting and other operations.
Angry Chickz can retrieve any information they deem necessary or appropriate from the franchisee's Information Systems, and there are no contractual limitations on their right to access this information. The franchisee is obligated to provide any assistance required to ensure the Information Systems are connected to Angry Chickz's computer systems and to maintain this connection as required. This level of access and ownership is fairly common in franchise systems, as it allows the franchisor to monitor performance, ensure compliance, and leverage data for overall brand management and strategic decision-making.
