What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Angry Chickz's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the company can require franchisees to refurbish, remodel, and improve their franchised business, but not more frequently than once every five years during the term of the agreement. This requirement can also be imposed as a condition for exercising the franchisee's Successor Agreement Right. These changes are to ensure the restaurant conforms to the then-current standards for new Angry Chickz restaurants.
The remodeling may include structural changes, replacement or modification of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE), décor, and trade dress, as well as other changes that Angry Chickz may direct. Franchisees are responsible for covering the costs associated with these changes.
If Angry Chickz requires a franchisee to undertake such work, the franchisee must complete the remodeling as quickly as possible. Specifically, if the investment is less than $75,000, the franchisee has 90 days from the notice date to complete the work. If the investment is more than $75,000, the franchisee has 6 months to complete the remodeling. The franchisee must also provide Angry Chickz with a timeline for the construction and remodeling.
