What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Angry Chickz's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if Angry Chickz does not provide written notice of acceptance or rejection of a proposed site within a specific timeframe, the site is considered rejected. This timeframe is 30 days from the receipt of the Developer's Site Review Kit. However, if Angry Chickz requests additional information, the timeframe extends to 15 days after receiving that additional information, whichever date is later.
This provision protects the developer (franchisee) from having a proposed site tied up indefinitely while waiting for Angry Chickz to make a decision. By setting a clear deadline, the franchisee can move on to other potential locations if a response isn't received in a timely manner. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as it ensures the franchisee can continue making progress in establishing their business.
It's important to note that while Angry Chickz's acceptance of a site cannot be unreasonably withheld, the ultimate responsibility for finding a suitable location rests with the franchisee. This means the franchisee must conduct thorough due diligence to ensure the site meets their needs and has the potential for success. The franchisor's approval is simply one step in the process, and does not guarantee profitability or success at that location.
