What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee receives notice from Angry Chickz to alter an existing sign, the franchisee must complete the required changes within a reasonable time period. These changes must be made at the franchisee's own expense. The signs and awnings must conform in all respects to Angry Chickz's standards and the layout and design plan approved for the franchised business, while also being subject to restrictions imposed by applicable law.
This means that Angry Chickz has the right to mandate changes to the signage of a franchise location, and the franchisee is responsible for covering the costs associated with these changes. The timeline for completing these changes is defined as a 'reasonable time period,' which could be subject to interpretation but generally implies a period that is practically feasible given the scope of the work required.
This requirement is fairly standard in franchising, as franchisors need to maintain brand consistency across all locations. It is important for prospective Angry Chickz franchisees to factor in potential future costs for sign alterations when considering the investment. Franchisees should seek clarification from Angry Chickz on what constitutes a 'reasonable time period' and try to understand the potential frequency and cost of sign alterations to better prepare for these expenses.
