What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees may face competition from other franchisees. Specifically, for those entering into a standard Franchise Agreement, while they are granted a Protected Area around their Restaurant, Angry Chickz does not offer an exclusive territory. This means that other Angry Chickz franchisees could potentially open locations nearby.
This potential competition extends beyond just other franchisees. The FDD states that franchisees may also face competition from outlets that Angry Chickz owns directly, as well as from other channels of distribution or competitive brands that Angry Chickz controls. This broadens the scope of potential competitive pressures that a franchisee might experience.
For those entering into an Area Development Agreement, Angry Chickz will not open or operate, or license others to own or operate, any Dine-In Restaurant in the Development Area, subject to their Reserved Rights. However, Angry Chickz's Reserved Rights include the right to develop, own, operate, franchise, or license others to operate Restaurants outside of the Development Area, businesses that provide goods and services within and outside the Development Area under names other than "Angry Chickz," Restaurants and other businesses at Non-Traditional Venues within or outside the Development Area, and businesses operating under names other than under Angry Chickz's trademarks at any location. This means that even with an Area Development Agreement, Angry Chickz retains considerable freedom to operate or franchise competing businesses, especially outside the franchisee's defined Development Area or within Non-Traditional Venues.
