What This Means (2025 FDD)
Based on the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to operate their businesses strictly under the "Angry Chickz" name and utilize the company's trade dress, marks, and approved advertising. Franchisees must also identify the franchised business as independently owned and operated under a license from Angry Chickz, as specified by the company, on items such as invoices, order forms, and advertisements.
The FDD states that franchisees cannot imprint or authorize others to imprint any of Angry Chickz's marks on any product without prior written approval from the company. Similarly, franchisees are prohibited from using the marks in connection with any assignment or offering of securities or any request for credit without the company's prior written approval. Angry Chickz retains the right to withhold or condition any approval related to the use of its marks.
While the provided excerpts do not explicitly state that a franchisee cannot operate an independent business within the Angry Chickz restaurant, the strict regulations on using the Angry Chickz marks and trade name suggest that operating another business within the same location would likely require written consent from Angry Chickz. The franchisee agreement stipulates that the business must be named "Angry Chickz", implying that any deviation from this would need approval.
Therefore, a prospective Angry Chickz franchisee should seek clarification from the franchisor regarding the possibility of operating any other business, even if related, within the franchised location. It would be prudent to discuss potential scenarios and understand the specific conditions under which such an arrangement might be considered or approved.
