What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, an "Excess Restaurant" refers to a restaurant that a developer builds and operates beyond the total number of restaurants they are initially obligated to develop under the Area Development Agreement.
Specifically, during the term of the agreement, a developer may want to open more Angry Chickz locations than their original development obligation requires. To do so, they must obtain prior written consent from Angry Chickz. This consent is not guaranteed and may be subject to certain conditions.
These conditions could include the payment of additional fees to Angry Chickz, or the execution of an amendment to the existing Area Development Agreement. This allows Angry Chickz to maintain control over the pace and quality of expansion within a given development area, even if a developer is eager to grow more quickly.
