What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Angry Chickz Franchise Disclosure Document, Angry Chickz has a license agreement with its parent, dated October 12, 2023, that allows Angry Chickz to use and sublicense certain trademarks. The agreement remains in effect until terminated. Upon termination of the license agreement, Angry Chickz's parent company will honor (or assume at the licensor's option) each franchise agreement that is in good standing through the remainder of its current and all renewal and successor terms.
This means that Angry Chickz franchisees are permitted to use the brand's trademarks to operate their restaurants. The trademarks are licensed to Angry Chickz by its parent company. The agreement between Angry Chickz and its parent company continues indefinitely unless terminated.
For a prospective franchisee, this provides some assurance that even if the license agreement between Angry Chickz and its parent were to terminate, the parent company would step in to ensure that existing franchise agreements are honored. This protects the franchisee's right to continue operating under the Angry Chickz brand, assuming they are in good standing with the company. This arrangement is somewhat unusual, as typically the franchisor is directly responsible for maintaining its trademarks and ensuring franchisees can use them.
