What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Amorino's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if an Area Developer assigns their Area Developer Agreement, the transferee (assignee) must complete Amorino's then-current initial training program to Amorino's satisfaction. The FDD does not specify a particular training fee that the assignee must pay. However, it states that the assignee may have to pay a "Transfer Fee" as specified in the Data Sheet, plus reimbursement of Amorino's costs and expenses (including legal fees) to obtain background checks on the assignee and its Principals.
This means that while there isn't a specific 'training fee' called out for assignees, the new party taking over the Area Developer Agreement will likely need to undergo Amorino's initial training. The cost for this training may be bundled into the general "Transfer Fee" or may involve separate expenses for things like background checks. The FDD also indicates that Amorino can charge a fee for training managers of subsequent stores if they determine the Area Developer's managers have not been adequately trained.
Prospective franchisees considering an assignment should carefully review the Data Sheet referenced in the FDD to understand the full scope of the "Transfer Fee" and what it covers. They should also clarify with Amorino whether the initial training for the assignee is included in the Transfer Fee or if it incurs additional costs. Understanding these costs is crucial for accurately assessing the financial implications of taking over an existing Area Developer Agreement.
