What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Amerispec Inspection Services's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the royalty fee is paid in exchange for the permission to use Amerispec Inspection Services's proprietary trademarks and processes. Franchisees leverage Amerispec Inspection Services's business model, trademarks, and branding to generate sales. A percentage of the gross receipts is then remitted to Amerispec Inspection Services as a royalty fee.
Specifically, the royalty fee is the greater of 7% of monthly Gross Receipts or a minimum of $280 per month. However, the minimum royalty fee is waived for the first 90 days after opening the Franchised Business. Gross Receipts include the total revenues from all products and services offered by the Franchised Business, or from the premises of the Franchised Business, and all other services or products sold under the Marks, or using any branded systems (including any branded software) or tools, or otherwise related to the Franchised Business or sold to customers of the Franchised Business.
It is important to note that if Amerispec Inspection Services is charged a tax by the franchisee's state or an agency within the state on the royalty fee they receive (excluding federal income taxes), the franchisee is responsible for paying an additional royalty equal to the amount of the tax. This condition could impact the overall cost of the franchise depending on the state's tax laws. Franchisees should factor this potential additional cost into their financial projections.
This royalty structure is typical in franchising, where franchisees pay for the ongoing use of the franchisor's brand, systems, and support. The royalty fee enables Amerispec Inspection Services to maintain and enhance its brand, provide ongoing support to franchisees, and invest in further development of the business model. Prospective franchisees should carefully consider the royalty structure and its impact on their profitability.
